Livagen

Livagen is a bioregulatory tetrapeptide (Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala) that targets hepatic tissue through modulation of gene expression in hepatocytes and hepatic stellate cells. Research has demonstrated its ability to enhance hepatocyte proliferative capacity, support detoxification enzyme activity (particularly cytochrome P450 isoforms CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP3A4), promote albumin and transferrin synthesis, reduce hepatic stellate cell activation and fibrogenic gene expression, and modulate bile acid metabolism enzymes. Notably, Livagen has been studied for its unique epigenetic effects, with research showing it can decondense heterochromatin in hepatocyte nuclei, potentially reactivating silenced genes and restoring youthful gene expression patterns. Applications include liver regeneration studies, hepatotoxicity protection models, age-related liver function decline research, and studies on hepatic response to metabolic stress including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease models.
