Cartalax

Cartalax is a bioregulatory tripeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp) that specifically targets cartilage and connective tissue through modulation of chondrocyte gene expression programs. Research has demonstrated its effects on stimulating proteoglycan synthesis (particularly aggrecan and versican), promoting type II collagen production, supporting cartilage matrix maintenance by upregulating tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs), and reducing catabolic enzyme expression (MMP-1, MMP-3, MMP-13). In osteoarthritis research models, Cartalax has shown potential to slow cartilage degradation, reduce inflammatory mediator production within the joint, and support mesenchymal stem cell differentiation toward the chondrogenic lineage. Additional studies have explored its effects on intervertebral disc degeneration models and tendon extracellular matrix integrity. The bioregulatory approach offers a unique research angle compared to anti-inflammatory or growth factor-based strategies for cartilage repair.
