Cortagen

Cortagen is a bioregulatory tetrapeptide that targets cerebral cortex function through epigenetic modulation of gene expression in cortical neurons and glial cells. Research has demonstrated its neuroprotective and cognitive-supporting properties in aging brain models, including enhancement of synaptic plasticity markers (synaptophysin, PSD-95), promotion of neurotrophic factor expression (BDNF, NGF), support for neuronal dendritic branching and spine density, modulation of neurotransmitter receptor density (particularly NMDA and AMPA receptors), and reduction of age-related lipofuscin accumulation in cortical neurons. Studies using behavioral paradigms (Morris water maze, novel object recognition) have shown improved cognitive performance in aged animals treated with Cortagen. The peptide's bioregulatory mechanism acts at the transcriptional level, potentially normalizing the age-related drift in gene expression patterns that contributes to cognitive decline.
