AOD9604

AOD9604 (Advanced Obesity Drug 9604) is a modified fragment of human growth hormone spanning amino acids 177-191, with an additional tyrosine residue added at the N-terminus to stabilize the molecule. It was specifically developed to isolate the fat-reducing properties of GH without its growth-promoting, diabetogenic, or other systemic effects. Research indicates AOD9604 stimulates lipolysis through activation of the β3-adrenergic receptor pathway and hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) in adipose tissue, while simultaneously inhibiting lipogenesis by downregulating key lipogenic enzymes including fatty acid synthase. Unlike full-length HGH, AOD9604 does not induce insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, or changes in IGF-1 levels. Clinical research has evaluated its effects on body fat reduction, with Phase IIb trials showing statistically significant reductions in abdominal fat. Additional research has explored its potential in osteoarthritis models, where it demonstrated chondroprotective effects and promotion of proteoglycan synthesis.
